Every Danfoss VLT® drive has a type code: a string that describes exactly how the drive was configured. It is printed on the nameplate next to the shorter ordering number (for example 131F0434). When you need a replacement or a quote, the type code is the most reliable thing to send, because two drives with the same power can differ in enclosure, filter or options.

An example

Here is a type code for a 7.5 kW VLT® AutomationDrive FC 302:

FC-302P7K5T5E55H1BGX…

What each field means

FieldExampleMeaning
Product group and seriesFC-302FC is the product group; the number is the series: 301/302 VLT® AutomationDrive, 102 VLT® HVAC Drive, 202 VLT® AQUA Drive, 103 VLT® Refrigeration Drive, 051 VLT® Micro Drive.
PowerP7K5Rated power in kW. The K stands for the decimal point, so P7K5 is 7.5 kW and P1K5 is 1.5 kW.
Phases and mains voltageT5T means three-phase, S single-phase. The digit is the voltage class: T2 is 200–240 V, T5 is 380–500 V. (The FC 51 uses S2 for single-phase 200–240 V and T4 for 380–480 V.)
EnclosureE55Protection rating of the enclosure: E20 is IP20, E55 is IP55.
RFI filterH1Built-in EMC filter class. H1 is class A1/B (C1).
BrakeBB means a brake chopper is fitted; X means none.
KeypadGThe control panel supplied: G is a graphical keypad; X means none.
Further fieldsX…Coating, mains options, software and the option slots (A, B, C, D) for fieldbus and I/O cards. An X means the option is not fitted.

Things to watch

  • Read by field, not by character position. The exact positions differ between drive families; the design guide for each series has the full table.
  • Duty rating. The same kW code can carry different current ratings for normal and high overload. Check the motor current as well as the kW.
  • Send the whole string. Option-slot letters at the end decide which fieldbus or I/O card is installed, and they are easy to miss.

Need a drive matched to your type code?

Send us the full type code or the ordering number from the nameplate, or a photo of the nameplate, and we will quote the exact unit or its current equivalent. Browse VLT® AutomationDrive FC 300 drives or see how to request a quote.
